Gergo Medve-Balint is Director at the Institute for Political Science, ELTE Centre for Social Sciences, Budapest and Associate Professor at the Institute for Social and Political Sciences at Corvinus University of Budapest. He obtained his doctoral degree in political science from Central European University in 2015. His publications appeared in JCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies, Studies in Comparative International Development, Review of International Political Economy, East European Politics, and Competition and Change, among others.  His research lies at the intersection of comparative and international political economy as he focuses on the institutional stability and change in (semi)peripheral growth regimes in Europe, exploring the role of industrial policy and regional policy in economic upgrading and stagnation in those economies.
