Kyiv should respond to aggressive statements from Budapest with calmness, Laszlo Bruszt, director of the Global Forum on Democracy and Development program told Ukrainian news portal Liga.net in an article about the growing tension between the Ukrainian and the Hungarian governments.
According to him, Ukraine has nothing to gain from a verbal skirmish that could worsen the chances for the Hungarian opposition in the April elections. “Ukraine is fighting a heroic war, and most Hungarians would like to see a free and prosperous country as a neighbor and a full member of the European Union,” he added.
