Laszlo Bruszt, CEU Professor Emeritus and Program Director at the DI, and Carsten Schneider, CEU’s President and Rector, spoke to Suspilne News, Ukraine’s public television, ahead of the Hungarian elections.

Laszlo Bruszt speaks about Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and opposition leader Peter Magyar’s views on Ukraine. He says he does not think Orban is inherently against Ukraine or Ukrainians. He just uses the issue of Ukraine in the campaign saying he will protect low energy prices if you vote for him. As for Peter Magyar, Laszlo Bruszt expects him to be pragmatic. “There is no reason to expect that he will be ideologically driven or that he will speak about a country that has been attacked by a nuclear power as if it were the aggressor, or portray it as some kind of organization that wants to colonize Hungary. That is madness. That’s how I see it”, he says.
